StandWithUs Impact in 2021

We are so proud of the tremendous reach and success we have had by staying true to our mission for the last 20 years to support Israel and fight antisemitism on five continents. Our progress and growth all these years is a direct result of the outstanding work of the talented, dedicated StandWithUs international team of professionals.
Together, we remind students and community members that it is important to be proud to be Jewish and to always be a confident, vocal supporter of Israel!
Below is just a partial list of some of our successes in 2021, none of which would be possible without your partnership.

The IsraelLINK middle school program has grown to 235 schools, inspired over 5,000 students, and provided training and professional development for 320 educators. We are in the process of growing and developing IsraelLINK Generations. This program is designed to increase parents’ Israel literacy, enabling them to engage in meaningful dialogue with their children. We are constantly growing and evolving as we develop new platforms, content, and interactive games that connect our learners to Israel.

High School

The StandWithUs High School Department reached 126,000 high school students during the 2020–21 academic year, mostly through virtual programs. We selected 150 StandWithUs Kenneth Leventhal High School Interns for the 2021–22 academic year, representing a 20 percent increase from last year. The StandWithUs Teen Leadership Council (TLC) has transitioned from a regional program to a national program, allowing 90 teens from across North America to engage with and support each other to positively impact their communities through education.  We continue fighting to keep hatred and bias out of ethnic studies courses in public schools, and we are advocating for quality education about Jews while encouraging students to stand up to antisemitism. We are working with students, parents, teachers, and community activists in school districts and states across the country, and must rapidly expand our work to meet the growing challenges in the high school space.

College Campuses Across North America

Our Campus Department engaged 170,000 students during the 2020–2021 academic year. Our team of expert mentors and students hosted 700 programs, engaging students of all backgrounds on 265 campuses!
We are proud of our focus on coalition building, which is exemplified by our seven Hispanic Emerson Fellows representing their universities and churches!

StandWithUs Saidoff Legal Department

The StandWithUs Saidoff Legal Department empowers students and community members through a legal response to antisemitism and anti-Israel activity. We have received over 1700 requests for legal help since our department’s founding in 2014. We operate with four staff attorneys and a pro bono legal network of over 250 lawyers nationwide. We have seen a 40 percent increase in requests for assistance with antisemitic incidents since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020. In 2021, we are utilizing our pro bono network, and staff attorneys like never before, receiving help from specialized attorneys every week as part of a constant influx of new matters of concern on campus and beyond!

Social Media

We saw a tremendous increase in our social media outreach, with 1.9 million active followers across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
During peak weeks like the last Israeli operation in May, we reached 105 million people per week on Facebook alone. Our total reach in 2021 across platforms and languages was 386 million people!

Israel Education Center in Jerusalem

After a delay imposed by COVID-19 restrictions, we have begun the expansion of the Israel Education Center in Jerusalem to double in size. Our new center on King David Street will include a dynamic visitors center and experience, a 200-seat auditorium, a catering kitchen for events, a digital media hub for our social media team, and an on-site TV studio!

The grand opening is planned for May 2022.

StandWithUs is working across the state of Israel in high schools and on college campuses!
We have welcomed 150 new participants of the Israel high school internship Tevel program and over 100 Israeli Fellows on campuses across Israel!

Global and National Issues began during the pandemic and now has over 200 educational programs on the site. The Zionist Movie Club has over 1,000 members who watch Israeli films and engage in discussions.

Together with South African Friends of Israel, we launched a billboard campaign to counter hateful anti-Israel billboards in South Africa. We continue to pressure Ben & Jerry's owner, Unilever, to reverse its decision to cut ties with its factory in Israel. This includes outreach to shareholders, online campaigns, and billboards.

Through Connect for Progress, StandWithUs connected the Israeli company Watergen with the community of Hard Rock in Navajo Nation to address the lack of access to clean drinking water locally. Watergen's innovative technology creates high-quality drinking water from the air.

Due to the rise in antisemitic hate crimes, the confusion about what constitutes antisemitism, and the misinformation about the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Definition, StandWithUs has created “A Guide to Understanding and Adopting the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism.” Read the guide HERE. See our many other booklets on a variety of themes and in different languages HERE.
