StandWithUs UK is seeking an Associate Director to lead, develop and grow the UK Emerson Fellowship Student Leadership programme and the general University wide outreach across the UK. They will also lead, develop and grow the UK Sixth Form programme.
The job role involves multiple responsibilities including overseeing and managing StandWithUs UK’s campus department, building and maintaining professional relationships with diverse groups of students and organisations. As part of a small, growing UK charity your role will include some outreach to and speaking engagements with schools, community groups and faith groups in the UK and internationally.
StandWithUs (SWU) is an international and non-partisan Israel education organisation that inspires and educates people of all ages and backgrounds, challenges misinformation and fights antisemitism.
SWU empowers and energises students and communities with leadership training and educational programs on hundreds of University campuses, secondary schools, and middle schools across the world. SWU informs through social media, print and digital materials, films, weekly newsletters and missions to Israel.
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Los Angeles, the organisation has programmes on five continents with chapters and offices throughout the U.S., in Israel, the UK, Canada and Brazil.
For the last 7 years, SWU has received the highest ratings from Charity Navigator (4 stars) and Guidestar (Platinum) and is a U.S. registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit and Section 46 charity (Israel).
About StandWithUs UK:
StandWithUs UK is a non-partisan all-inclusive Israel Education charity, dedicated to educating about Israel and tackling antisemitism. Through pro-active education and creative resources, we inspire individuals in schools, campuses and communities alike.
Our flagship programme, the UK Emerson Fellowship provides a framework for like-minded university students who want to change the landscape within which Israel Education takes place. Trained to identify challenges, students will provide a focused and professional response to antisemitism and anti-Zionism in every sphere of student life. Students receive access to a global network of prestigious Israel educators.
In partnership with the Executive Director, the Associate Director shall develop and help lead the implementation of a clear and focused long-long strategy for StandWithUs in the UK to meet organisational goals as well as day to day management of the output of the office. This will include the following:
Leadership and Management:
Oversee the management and operational leadership of the UK Emerson Fellowship
Facilitate the mentoring and training of two campus coordinator to ensure the fulfilment of organisational objectives and goals in line with our mission statement.
Leading the development of educational content and initiatives for the UK Emerson Fellowship including designing and implementing an educational curriculum about Israel, Zionism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Review existing strategy plans and update as required, ensuring clear timetable for implementation, monitoring and delivery of strategies. Share responsibility for meeting fiscal targets with Executive Director.
When required, represent the Executive Director and StandWithUs UK at high level meetings and events in the UK and at other locations.
Lead the development of a PR strategy for StandWithUs UK, including the use of media publications, TV, social media, email newsletters and international media.
Work with the Executive Director to evaluate and review the vision, success and direction of the UK Emerson Fellowship and Sixth Form Leadership Programme.
Represent the organisation externally to key stakeholders.
Developing leads to implement new educational programmes and events with key partner organisations and institutions.
Liaise with the international StandWithUs leadership and team to ensure synergy within the organisation and its international activities.
About you (Minimum Requirements):
Minimum of two years professional employment, including managerial experience.
Educated to an undergraduate level.
Proven track record in positions of leadership.
A passion for education and advocacy.
Knowledge of Israel, Zionism and of the Abrahamic faiths.
An understanding of the political, religious and cultural sensitivities surrounding Israel education and advocacy on University campuses in the UK and Northern Ireland.
Friendly, confident and people-oriented person with a passion for combating Antisemitism and all forms of racism and discrimination.
Well organised and a self-starter, confident at working alone and within a small team.
