International Israel education organisation, StandWithUs — whose mission is to inspire and educate people of all ages and backgrounds about Israel, challenge misinformation and fight antisemitism — is opening national operations in Australia.

We are looking for a dynamic Executive Director who is driven to grow StandWithUs locally and make it the best resource it can be for people of all backgrounds to learn more about Israel, and combat antisemitism.

The Executive Director is responsible for organising educational programs, fundraising, and growing the organisation in Australia. The Executive Director will oversee and coordinate the recruitment and training of other staff as we grow our team.

In addition, the job involves managing the budget, planning strategy, and communicating with all relevant stakeholders. The Executive Director will be responsible for expanding the reach of StandWithUs throughout Australia, creating awareness of StandWithUs within the Jewish and non-Jewish community and ensuring the organisation is effectively inspiring and educating people of all ages about Israel, while combatting BDS efforts via a variety of methods.

The Executive Director will liaise closely with different departments of the international organisation to bring a variety of successful StandWithUs programs to Australia while ensuring they are appropriately adjusted for local nuance and audience, as well as working with other local partners to develop and implement joint initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

• Experience and knowledge of the non-profit  / educational sphere

• Knowledge of and close contacts within the Jewish community

• Proven track record in previous management positions

• Ability to make engaging presentations, coordinate outreach, and fundraise / report to donors as necessary

• Excellent interpersonal, organisational, written, and oral communication skills

• A love of Israel and good knowledge of Israel and Israeli history

• A strong work ethic and team player, ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to handle and maintain confidential information with discretion

• Able to use office software to keep on top of organisational tasks

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PEOPLE & CULTURE

• Establish and build a strong base for StandWithUs Australia

• Recruit staff as needed, train them in the mission, strategies, goals, and challenges of the organisation.

• Set strategy and provide clear objectives to staff, monitoring their work carefully to ensure the quality of programming

• Support, mentor, and assist staff while making work for StandWithUs Australia productive and fulfilling.

• Drive teamwork and effective communication among the staff so that everybody works in partnership towards the same goals

• Ensure effective delegation of tasks and follow through for staff and volunteers

EDUCATION AND OUTREACH

• Plan programs that will inform our community of the challenges facing students on university campuses.

• Work closely with partners at the Jewish Day Schools to provide educational programs to enhance their Israel education.

• Lead Campus Managers / educational staff to identify candidates to join our programs.

GOVERNANCE AND STAKEHOLDERS

• Work closely with the of the Board of Directors of StandWithUs Australia

• Partner with board members and stakeholders to grow the efforts and abilities of StandWithUs locally

• Ensure board meetings are properly recorded and action items are followed through

• Liaise with the international organization by providing feedback and recommendations to ensure that all imported programs suitably match Australian requirements

FINANCE

• Manage the annual budget in line with the fundraising goal and board approval.

• Develop comprehensive fundraising strategies and relationships with the assistance of the board to meet budget objectives.

• Oversee the planning and implementation of events.

• Encourage the engagement of volunteers to help.

• Oversee regular communication with stakeholders and wider audience, as well as oversight to ensure visibility in the press and on social media. alerts that help market our work and grow our base in Australia.

• Work closely at year-end with Accounting and Audit to ensure financial compliance according to nonprofit regulations.
