StandWithUs Mourns New Israeli Death and Injuries From Palestinian Terrorism
STANDWITHUS MOURNS NEW ISRAELI DEATH
AND INJURIES FROM PALESTINIAN TERRORISM

INCIDENT REINFORCES URGENCY OF DEMAND
THAT PALESTINIANS STOP
ANTI-ISRAEL INCITEMENT

Our hearts go out to the latest Israeli victims of Palestinian terrorism. Today, March 23, one person was killed in a shrapnel-laden bomb explosion at Jerusalem's central bus station. Thirty-eight people were wounded, three seriously, according to recent updates.

Barely two weeks have passed since we all were horrified and heartbroken by the brutal massacre of the Fogel family, including three of their young children, by Palestinian terrorists. This week alone, Hamas launched 53 mortars and rockets from Gaza into civilian communities in southern Israel. A Grad rocket reached as far as Ashkelon, wreaking destruction and injury.

We support the steps Israel must take to protect its citizens from this upsurge in terrorism.

But this terrorism does not occur in a vacuum. Incessant government-sponsored incitement to hate and murder Israelis saturates the Palestinian Authority (PA), governed by President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party, and Hamas-controlled Gaza. On March 13, just two days after the Fogel slaughter, the PA launched a seminar named in honor of Dalal Mughrabi, the leader of the worst terrorist attack in Israel's history, the 1978 Coastal Road massacre. Two days later, the PA named a public square after Mughrabi. The PA regularly names summer camps, schools, children's sports teams, and other public events and buildings after Mughrabi and other terrorists. It glorifies these terrorists as heroic martyrs that children should emulate.

Hamas' founding document calls for the murder of Jews and the "obliteration" of Israel, and it cites the czarist anti-Semitic forgery The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Hamas media, schools, institutions, and mosques are rife with Nazi-style anti-Semitic imagery and libels.

This incitement must stop. Instead of encouraging a return to the negotiating table, it encourages murderous acts.

The PA is financially dependent on the international community, which has given the Palestinians more money per capita than has ever been given in the history of foreign aid. The U.S. has shored up the PA with billions of dollars. The international community should have zero tolerance for incitement. The PA must be held accountable. Funding of the PA must stop until it takes energetic, measurable steps to end anti-Israel incitement and begins teaching compromise and peaceful coexistence.

Funding must stop until the PA returns to the negotiating table and sincerely commits to peaceful coexistence.

The terrorist group Hamas must remain outside the pale of civilized, international society until it renounces terrorism and incitement and accepts compromise and peaceful coexistence.

The international community can and should take a role in fostering Palestinian-Israeli peace. It cannot assume this role until it unequivocally condemns incitement and makes its aid to Palestinians contingent on Palestinians taking measurable steps to construct the building blocks to peace-peace education.

We have grieved over too many deaths. It is time to stop the Palestinian hate-mongering that has led to hateful acts. It is time for Palestinians to say yes to peace.
