(Denver, CO -- November 28, 2023) -- StandWithUs Colorado announced that it has launched a digital billboard campaign that reminds viewers that there are hostages still being held in captivity by Hamas that must be freed since the terrorist group’s rampage on October 7, 2023 when they murdered 1,200 civilians and dragged 240 hostages into Gaza. 121 still remain in captivity, likely held in underground tunnels, in deplorable conditions, far away from their families, in clear violation of international law.
Against a backdrop of photos of the hostages, the message states Hamas, Release ALL the Hostages NOW! with the hashtag BringThemHomeNow (#BringThemHomeNow).
The billboard is visible from November 28 to December 24 on southbound Colorado Boulevard between Alameda and Cherry Creek North Drive.
It is also visible from December 4, 2023 to January 1, 2024 at west-bound Iliff Avenue just past Quebec.
The campaign was organized by Miri Kornfeld, Director of StandWithUs Colorado and a mother to twin toddlers. Miri, together with concerned members of the community helped raise the funds to make this billboard message possible. StandWithUs is an international non-partisan education organization that supports Israel and fights antisemitism.
States Miri Kornfeld, "I'm shaken by the fact that children were held hostage in Gaza who are the same age as my kids. Even though I am thousands of miles and many oceans away, I consider it my job to educate people about Israel's war against Hamas, and fight the war of hearts and minds. The world should scream out, 'Bring back ALL our Hostages!' I am so grateful to the community for recognizing the need to raise our voices and stand in partnership with StandWithUs. We need to keep holding events and applying pressure until every hostage is returned home safely!"
On November 5, recognizing the "30 Days of Mourning," since the beginning of the war, Miri Kornfeld hosted a Shloshim (30) ceremony, in Washington Park in partnership with the Israeli American Council (IAC). A display at the ceremony contained dozens of empty strollers with “kidnapped” posters of the 32 Israeli children currently being held hostage in Gaza along with many other household items to represent the rest of the 210 hostages. The strollers and household items were donated by concerned parents and community members. Two Rabbis in the community spoke together with Miri Kornfeld and Phil Weiser, Attorney General of Colorado, at the ceremony.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the world was shocked by a sudden attack from Hamas on civilians living in Israel's southern cities, during which they committed unspeakable crimes against humanity, brutally torturing, raping and murdering more than 1,200 people, including children, women, and the elderly in their homes, on the roads and at the Nova music festival. Additionally, over 240 civilians were abducted into Gaza, among them innocent children and infants, including a 9-month-old baby, after their parents were mercilessly murdered in front of their eyes.
