(Los Angeles, CA — July 15, 2019) — StandWithUs announces the establishment of the “StandWithUs Center for Combating Antisemitism (CCA).” This new effort will be led by Carly Gammill, who brings ten years of expertise in litigation and First Amendment law to her role as Director and Counsel for Litigation Strategy.
The Anti-Defamation League and others have documented a disturbing rise in antisemitism in the U.S. in recent years, and there are similarly disturbing trends across Europe. There is mounting evidence that this hate, coming primarily from the far right, far left, and Islamist extremists, is seeping into the mainstream. As such, the StandWithUs Center for Combating Antisemitism will work to identify, define, expose, and act against antisemitism in high schools, on college campuses, in communities, and beyond. This will include legal action whenever necessary.
“We are witnessing a disturbing rise in antisemitism around the world and across the political spectrum,” said Roz Rothstein, CEO of StandWithUs. “As the daughter of Holocaust survivors and the CEO of an expanding international organization, I have always known that we cannot stand idly by in the face of this dangerous hate. That is why we are launching a very focused, strategic effort through the new StandWithUs Center for Combating Antisemitism.”
The CCA will produce educational materials like the new Antisemitism: Then and Now publication in a variety of formats and assist people of all ages and backgrounds in understanding and confronting antisemitism in their communities and institutions. Ultimately, the CCA will work in cooperation with a large network of pro bono attorneys dedicated to representing American victims of antisemitic discrimination in court—a powerful new tool for everyone in the StandWithUs network across the United States.
