On Feb 24, 2021, the Town of North Hempstead, New York, unanimously passed a resolution calling for the adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. Avi Posnick, the Northeast Regional Director for StandWithUs, thanked the Town Council and spoke in favor of the resolution's adoption. "I want to thank Supervisor Bosworth and the Council for taking the first very important step toward defeating antisemitism; that is defining it. With antisemitism on the rise, the more municipalities, law enforcement, social service agencies, educational establishments are educated about what antisemitism is, the greater our chances of good people to stand against it. There's a lot of misinformation about antisemitism. The board has taken the bold step of lighting a candle in the darkness of ignorance." The Town Supervisor thanked StandWithUs for its efforts to combat antisemitism.
