StandWithUs is, at its core, an Israel advocacy group. But that’s a simple description for an organization that is anything but basic.

The group, over a decade old, works to dispel myths and misconceptions about the Jewish state. That outreach can take many forms, from fighting boycott efforts to working on college campuses to combat anti-Zionist protests.

“There is a backlash now from anti-Israel events on campuses. So we hear often from students who want to bring pro-Israel voices to their campus,” said Roz Rothstein, CEO of StandWithUs.

“We’re empowering people within their own communities so they can in turn educate others about Israel.”

To that end, StandWithUs provides support to communities literally around the world—wherever their services are needed, the StandWithUs staff is there. This past year, the group’s work has covered everything from pro-Israel billboards in New York to helping establish Sacramento as a sister city to Ashkelon.

Rothstein said the focus of being proactive, not negative, helps in the group's aims.

"If we create an agenda, where we’re teaching, we feel that is very helpful. It really does serve to drown out the negativity and the hostility,” she said. “We have to prioritize these hostility campaigns and decide what we’ll respond to.”

But response isn't the only goal. By working together, Rothstein said StandWithUs is bringing the Jewish community together in common pursuits.

“We unify people who care about Israel. We bring them together. We apply our work locally. It’s the same work, wherever it happens to be in the world,” she added. “I am ever impressed with our local leaders and how they work on the ground. We take our partnerships very seriously.”

.ORG-Connection: StandWithUs, is an international, non-profit organization. We believe that education is the road to peace. StandWithUs is dedicated to informing the public about Israel and to combating the extremism and anti-Semitism that often distorts the issues.
