StandWithUs Applauds Overwhelming Congressional Condemnation of BDS

(Washington, DC -- July 23rd, 2019) -- StandWithUs applauds Congress for passing House Resolution 246 (H.R. 246), with an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 398 in favor and 17 against. Introduced by Rep. Brad Schneider( D-IL),Ā H.R. 246 forcefully condemns the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which seeks to isolate, weaken and ultimately destroy the State of Israel. We are heartened that the measureĀ puts the 116th Congress on record in clear opposition toĀ a campaign of hate that denies Jewish people the right to a self determination, promotes discrimination against Israelis, and undermines efforts to achieve a just peace.

"Congress continues to recognize that anti-Israel boycotts are a form of hate which will never lead to justice or peace between Israelis and Palestinians," said Roz Rothstein, CEO of StandWithUs. "Everyone who is committed to fighting discrimination and bigotry should follow their lead and oppose these campaigns wherever they occur."

StandWithUs also commends Reps. Brian Mast (R-FL) and Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) for introducing the Palestinian International Terrorism Support Prevention Act (H.R. 1850), andĀ Reps. Ted Deutch (D-FL) and Joe Wilson (R-SC) for introducing theĀ U.S.-Israel Cooperation Enhancement and Regional Security Act (H.R. 1837).Ā Both of these bills passed as well, promoting accountability for those who provide material support to Palestinian terrorist groups and increasing cooperation between Israel and the United States.
