Honoring
BOB Z”L, SANDRA,
& BETSY BORNS
Robert (Bob) Z”L and Sandra Borns have been longstanding pillars in their community. From their involvement in the Robert and Sandra Borns Jewish Studies Program at Indiana University to their dedicated service on synagogue boards, with Israel Bonds, at Jewish community centers and of course with StandWithUs, the
Bornses devoted their lives to giving back to the Jewish community. Proud parents of three and grandparents of six, their commitment to Jewish service and philanthropy has left—and will continue to leave—a lasting impact. StandWithUs will always remember Bob Borns Z”L for his steadfast dedication to Israel and the Jewish people, and for helping to found StandWithUs in the Coachella Valley along with Sandra and others.
Betsy Borns is an Emmy Award-nominated writer/producer of shows from Roseanne to Friends (for which she wrote the iconic song “Smelly Cat”). She is the president of the Borns Jewish Studies Program at Indiana University, a board member of Hillel and Yiddshkeit, a longtime member of AIPAC, and a supporter of the Yiddish Book Center and StandWithUs. She is married to television writer/producer Jonathan Shapiro, the proud mother of Abraham, Sarah, and Ezekiel Shapiro, and the daughter of Robert and Sandra Borns.
